About

Welcome to the exciting world of Insect Photography.  And I don’t mean pictures taken by insects.

My name is Brian Malow. I’m a science comedian. I perform for all kinds of audiences. I also make science videos for Time Magazine’s website.

And I like to take pictures of insects!  Shoot and release is my policy.  I’m purely a hobbyist but my photographs have appeared in Natural History Magazine, The Canadian Journal of Arthropod Identification, and BugGuide.net.

My first pictures were taken with a $300 Olympus point-and-click that happens to have an excellent SuperMacro setting (in addition to its Macro setting).  Later pics were taken with a Canon Rebel XT.

BugGuide is an awesome resource for insect identification.  I’ve uploaded these pics to the site.
